#5s: Hobbies to Bring Back this 2017

I hope I'm not too late in writing this. I know these types of post should be written within a week after New Year ; when your enthusiasm and excitement for the coming year, mixed with whatever your drinking to celebrate the New Year, is at its highest. I'm happy that it's a law not written on stones. It's not written on paper either. In fact, it's not written on anything at all. I made it up because I am but a conjurer of things that makes me sad. Even so, I have to share this with you all because you're all obsessed with me. And I aim to please.

Let me start by saying that I am not the most consistent person in the world. The things I say, or promise to do, will always come with an expiration date. I got it from my mother. Who, despite being my biggest fan and the love of my life, is the queen of inconsistencies. One time, she promised to get me a bike if I ever I am awarded with a medal for being academically excellent. I gave up after first year high school. So it's understandable why I grew up with an allergic reaction to commitment: it doesn't run in my family.

Knowing it's in my genes being inconsistent, I did try to have hobbies and lifelong commitments. Due to being an adult though, the only thing I am consistent nowadays is being miserably sad. Which is sad. So, this 2017, I aim to revive those hobbies back. These are few of the things I used to love, things that I was passionate about back then. Let's go!

5. Watching movies (and TV series)

- Living on student allowance, I used to visit movies theatres everyday. I stopped just after two weeks. Not only because I ran out of money, but also because I discovered bit and u. After discovering how it works, where to find sources, I became unstoppable. I do movie marathons on my own. I also discovered one of my favourite websites: IMDB, and vowed to watch their entire Top 200. I stopped just after Shawshank's Redemption. This year, I want to complete the list and more. I want my love for movies and TV series to be revived, not only for my own entertainment, but also for you guys. Why? I don't know.

4. Physical activity/ies

- I used to dance. I used to join cheerleading and hip-hop competitions. I don't know if they let me join because of my amazing danceabilityr because of my looks and charm. Either way, the point is I do something physically demanding. Nowadays, the only demand my body responds to is extra rice. I don't intend to join dance groups or what, although it's a possibility. Anything that can be considered as an exercise will do (Zumba perhaps?). Regardless of what form, I would really want to be physically active again. Not only for the sake of my health, but also for my looks. I mean, I love my body, curves and all. But there is no denying that being fit gives you a definite advantage in the dating scene. I also don't intend to have defined muscle cuts. Maybe shedding off a little of my weight will do.

3. Buying books and actually reading them

- my love for books started when I was in grade 6, but let us not go that far. I used to love reading. I used to dwell on the pages of paperbacks and hard-bounds to escape my life. Whenever I am reading a book, the whole world is on mute. And I, I get lost in the worlds created by mere words. Then it came to a point where I'd rather be in those worlds than my own. Reality became harder for me. I began comparing my life with some protagonists I love and wonder why my life is not as exciting as theirs. So I stopped. I still buy books though, hoping my enthusiasm will come back eventually. And every time I try, I can't even get past chapter one.

This year, I plan to finish all my unread books. I'd like to think that I have a better grasp of my reality (fingers crossed); a firmer grasp than what I had before. Not only will it help me, at the same time, I can use it to further fuel my blog. Truly, multitudes of possibilities are hiding in every page. And I hope that this year, I can have the courage to turn them.

2. Writing poems

- If you have gone back to my previous blog posts (say 2 years ago), you'd probably notice a bit of poetry. There was a time in my life that I was such a romantic that I wrote 26 poems for my crush. They were probably sub standard pieces, but I was proud of my work. Some people used to admire me because of my poetry. I did try last year. I created an Instagram account solely for my poems. I called it 'feels pill' because I am such a creative person. Anyway, I originally planned to post at least one poem a day. It didn't happen. It didn't come as easy as it used to. I ended up deleting the account. This year, I don't intend to create new account, but rather share them here.

1. Falling in love

- I know, I know, it's a bit cheesy. But please don't close this tab just yet and allow me to explain. While I also want to fall in love with another person, I am not limiting myself to it. No, that doesn't mean I plan to be an objectophilic, no. I used to love a lot of things (like those mentioned above). More so, I used to be in love with life in general. I don't know when and why I stopped, I don't think its important really. I want to revive the romantic in me. I want to love life again. I want to love all kinds of music, all types of dishes, all kinds of people. I want to see the beauty of the world and savour it. Yeah, I guess that's the falling in love I meant. I also want a relationship so bad.

So, do you think you can relate to my list? That is a rhetorical question. I don't care if you can relate. Kidding aside, those are the hobbies I want to bring back this year of the cock rooster. Not only will keep me pre-occupied and mentally sane. But it can also help me give you guys good content. No matter how I despise you all, I still want you to enjoy my blog (I know you visit because you fancy me, but still).

How about you? What hobbies are planning to restart this 2017? Comment below and please keep it wholesome. Thanks guys!

  1. Your poems are great! And I think you should really continue writing. And reading, dancing, all of the above. And being in love with life too. Plus if you want to be in a relationship with another person, go for it! Might not be that easy as it is for all of us I guess, but perhaps it's worth the try? :)

This year I'm doing the same thing - adventures and photography.

  4. I can definitely relate! I've always been a voracious reader and serial tv series marathoner but then #adulting came and I lost touch of these hobbies by a huge degree. I'm vowing to read and watch more this year. Hihi. Great list! :)
